Apple unveils iPad 3

Today, Apple unveiled the iPad 3.

The iPad 3 has:

- A better display
- 4G LTE support
- A 5MP Camera
- A5X chip (Dual core CPU, Quad core GPU)
The quad core GPU means better gaming and greatly improved performance over the A5 chip.
- Siri Diction, but not Siri itself.

Oh yes, and the design and battery life are about the same as that of the iPad 2. It probably also has 1 GB ram.

So what are your thoughts?

Not to mention iOS 5.1 and a new version of iTunes (10.6) were unveiled.

iOS 5.1:

  • Japanese language support for Siri (availability may be limited during initial rollout)
  • Photos can now be deleted from Photo Stream
  • Camera shortcut now always visible on Lock Screen for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch (4th generation)
  • Camera face detection now highlights all detected faces
  • Redesigned Camera app for iPad
  • Genius Mixes and Genius playlists for iTunes Match subscribers
  • Audio for TV shows and movies on iPad optimized to sound louder and clearer
  • Podcast controls for playback speed and a 30 second rewind for iPad
  • Updated AT&T network indicator
  • Addresses bugs affecting battery life
  • Fixes an issue that occasionally caused audio to drop for outgoing calls

And as usual, jailbreakers beware. 5.1 currently only has a semi-tethered jailbreak and only for A4 and earlier devices.

The Droid 3 and Droid X2 not getting ICS is sorta ridiculous, considering they are less that a year old, but there are always custom roms...

Installing Google Wallet on your Galaxy Nexus

If you got a Verizon Galaxy Nexus or a GSM Galaxy Nexus, you are probably pissed off about not having Google Wallet. You want the free $10 prepaid debit card right? Well lucky for you, you can install it via an unoffically leaked APK. You can download that from here. Just make sure you are on ICS 4.0.2 before you install! Install like you would with any APK. Make sure non-market apps is enabled.

STOP SOPA/PIPA

If you use the internet, you probably have heard of SOPA and PIPA. If these bills are passed by congress, it will probably ruin you lives forever. The initial goal of these bills was to stop foreign websites from hosting and distributing pirated works. These bills have however evolved and now any website found having/distributing copyrighted material and any user that is found using/distributing them will face punishments, if these bills are passed. If you think about it, its a very serious bill that affects all of us. Several websites can be shut down (ie Facebook, YouTube) if this bill passes.

If you don't know about this bill, I suggest reading about it. In protest, Wikipedia is unavailable for 24 hours, along with few other sites, such as reddit. Google is protesting it too, by censoring their logo. An anti-SOPA/PIPA petition is available on these sites.

https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/

As you can see, this is very serious stuff!

Edit: Plan success :D
